Quality and Non-Toxicity Are Considered Important in Lubricants

In spring 2017, we conducted a survey to explore the use of plant-based lubricants and the perceptions associated with them.

We asked lubricant users, among other things, how important they consider various claims relating to lubricants. Respondents rated each statement on a scale of 1–5, where 5 meant “very important” and 1 meant “not important at all.”

The respondents considered lubricant quality and value for money the most important factors. Almost equally important were non-toxicity and safety for both human health and the environment. Respondents also valued lubricants that extend the service life of blades, guide bars and other components, can be used year-round and provide good coverage with low consumption.

Because EKO 100 lubricants are made from plant-based oils, they are non-toxic and safe for both the user and the environment. In forestry machine tests, EKO 100 lubricants have proven to be highly efficient and high-quality, resulting in lower consumption compared with mineral and used oils. Thanks to their excellent viscosity index, EKO 100 lubricants can be used year-round. Plant-based oil also has a cleaning effect, helping to extend the service life of chains, pumps and guide bars.

EKO 100 lubricants therefore meet all the key qualities that respondents considered important.

A prize draw was held among the survey participants, and Sami from Pattijoki won a cruise gift voucher for the most environmentally friendly ship operating on the Baltic Sea. Congratulations, Sami!
